For Physicians

A Comprehensive Imaging Option for Select Patients

Full body MRI at Abercrombie Radiology is designed as a targeted tool for carefully selected patients—not a mass screening replacement for guideline-based care. It offers a single, comprehensive exam that evaluates the brain, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and major vascular structures, providing a broader view when standard, region-specific imaging does not fully answer the clinical question.

For some patients, this can help consolidate multiple scans and identify pathology in regions that may not otherwise be imaged in routine workups. Used judiciously and in coordination with you, it can extend your diagnostic reach and support more informed decision-making.

Why Refer for Full Body MRI?

Full body MRI is an adjunct to, not a replacement for, guideline-directed screening and disease-specific diagnostic pathways.

Reporting and Collaboration

Our goal is to give you reports that are clinically useful, concise, and easy to act on.

Structured reporting

Each study is interpreted by a board-certified radiologist using a structured format that moves systematically through the brain, spine, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. Findings are clearly separated into:

  • No significant abnormality detected
  • Findings likely benign or incidental
  • Findings that may warrant correlation or follow-up

Clear “action items” and follow-up suggestions

When appropriate, we provide suggested next steps—for example, follow up MRI, CT, or ultrasound, or referral to a relevant specialty. These suggestions are framed to support your judgment, not to replace it, and are always contextualized by the degree of suspicion and clinical urgency.

Secure, streamlined delivery

Reports and key images can be delivered through secure electronic channels compatible with your existing workflows, including EMR interfaces where available, secure fax, or encrypted portals. We work to ensure that reports are accessible to your team in a predictable and timely manner.

Direct access to our radiologists

For complex or unexpected findings, you can speak directly with the interpreting radiologist to:

  • Review imaging in real time
  • Clarify differential considerations
  • Discuss appropriate follow-up imaging strategies
  • Coordinate timing and modality selection for further workup
